The royal visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in April 2016 has heightened interest in this enchanting Himalayan kingdom, nestled between India, China and Tibet. As William and Kate discovered, a trip to Bhutan is life-enhancing but, for most of us, requires individual research and careful planning.

Luxury Explorer’s travel editor, Sophie Marchant travelled throughout Bhutan to make this film, combining an Amankora Journey with stays at other lodges and luxury hotels. She trekked and visited many holy places, including: the Punakha Dzong, ‘The Palace of Great Happiness’; Paro’s Taktsang Monastery, also known as the “Tiger’s Nest” and enjoyed rare personal meetings with a royal astrologer and eminent Rinpoches in Gantey and Thimpu.
