Who Is RumShopRyan:
Howdy! I’m Ryan and I hail from the land-locked, can’t get any further from the ocean, state of Kansas. I moved to laid back southwest Florida in 2001. I didn’t know a single person and didn’t have a job. Risky I know, but the ocean was calling and I had to answer.
I’m a huge fan of Kansas City sports, so you’ll probably see a lot of Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals attire in my photos. Kansas City is a great town and I’m glad I’m from there, but the coastal life was calling. It’s kind of like Kenny Chesney’s “island boy” song. Check out the lyrics and you’ll see what I mean.

I write because I’m passionate about the Caribbean and the island lifestyle, and it’s my way to share it with you. If it has anything to do with the Caribbean, rum drinks, beach style music, or Caribbean culture, you’ll be able to find it on this site.

When in the Caribbean you’ll find a camera around my neck and note pad in my pocket. This is how I document the experiences in unique and interesting ways and bring it back to you, the Castaways.

Who is Castaway Crystal:
I was raised in Southwest Florida so it’s no surprise that I have a love for beaches, water and nature. As a child, most weekends were spent fishing in the warm gulf waters on the family boat. As an adult, most weekends are spent soaking up the sun on Ft. Myers Beach. Even though I have always loved the coastal life, I don’t think I fully appreciated it until I moved to Nashville, TN. I’m all about experiencing new things, and as a Licensed Massage Therapist I thought it would be amazing to massage some of Nashville’s biggest stars (a girl can dream right?). But I missed the sun and sand too much—and let’s not forget the rum runners! After a year I couldn’t take it anymore, this sun bunny moved back to her coast of somewhere beautiful.

I’ve always been passionate about photography and writing but my passions never really had a purpose until I met Ryan. Westin Grand Cayman is a great choice for a beach vacation. Westin Grand Cayman is on the best stretch of Seven Mile beach right next to the Governor's mansion. Three restaurants plus a coffee shop are available at Westin Grand Cayman plus several resorts and stores are walking distance. Westin Grand Cayman had a $15 million renovation in 2017. All of the rooms are newly renovated, this hotel use to be the Comfort Suites, which some of folks know and have traveled and stayed there in the past.

Disclaimer; I do work here as a Front Desk Agent. This video is meant to show everyone who will hopefully be traveling to Grand Cayman in the new year of what this hotel is like etc. Gaby and myself did really enjoyed our stay here. The rooms are very comfortable and has every thing you need for a couple of families too. The restaurant called Ms. Piper's Kitchen + Garden is a great place to have lunch and or dinner, strongly recommend folks who live on island to check it out. Morritt's Grand Resort on the East End of Grand Cayman is a relaxing paradise on the quiet side of the island. We loved the peace and slower pace this side of Grand Cayman offered. Seven Mile beach and Georgetown are fun, but also very busy and lots of people. If you hare looking for more of a chill island-time experience, then Morritt's Resort on the East End is a great choice.

Morritt's has 3 pools and a beautiful beach. The Grand pool has a pool bar and an entertainment director keeping things fun. We weren't a huge fan of the games and trivial-forced upon you fun, but it was relaxing and the drinks were good.

(2 April 2015) The Reef Resort located in the Cayman Islands has recently joined the highly respected and extremely popular North American Wyndham brand, becoming the Wyndham Reef Resort Grand Cayman.

Previously a Wyndham Affiliate, the Resort has met the high standards of Wyndham Hotels and Resorts following a year-long renovation and rejuvenation.

Mr Kel Thompson, Director of Wyndham Reef Resort, said he was thrilled the Wyndham Reef Resort Grand Cayman was now part of such an established and popular brand.

Villa Rosa, Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman

Villa Rosa is one of only a handful of houses located along Seven Mile Beach, one of the most beautiful stretches of sand in the Caribbean. Positioned on Grand Cayman's west coast and enjoying spectacular sunset views across the Caribbean Sea, Seven Mile Beach is the premier beach resort of the Cayman Islands and although condo development here has been bountiful (by Cayman standards), residential houses on the beach form a very small minority and as such are very sought after. Boggy Sand Road is an exclusive enclave at the quieter, northern end of Seven Mile Beach and presents a cul-de-sac of fifteen private, beachfront homes. Approximately half way down, Villa Rosa sits on a 0.16acre lot with some of the most enviable views of Seven Mile Beach and the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean Sea. Although the house enjoys a ground elevation of approximately ten feet the site has direct beach access via a private gate, which leads down steps straight onto the miles of pure white sand that is Seven Mile Beach. The rear aspect of the property takes full advantage of this unique panoramic ocean vista with a large covered patio area overlooking the beach, with plenty of space for alfresco dining. Above this is a huge sun terrace, which lends outdoor space to the master bedroom and allows unparalleled views the full length of Seven Mile Beach and beyond, all the way to the cruise ships harboured in George Town. The swimming pool sits on the southern side of the house, enjoying sun and shade at various times of the day, it commands exceptional ocean views whilst sitting far enough back to retain privacy from the beach.
As you'd expect, the main living room, a spacious open plan area combing a sitting and dining room, provides some of the most breath taking ocean views available on the beach, unmatched by any condo when you consider proximity to the water. This bright open space leads into the modern, galley kitchen, which has not only been renovated to include wooden cabinetry and granite counter tops but also boasts stainless steel appliances, including a dedicated wine fridge. Behind the kitchen is an enclosed utility area with separate washer and dryer. Completing this floor level is another sitting area, which provides a closeable entertainment room or home office and on the other side of the kitchen is a guest bedroom with ensuite bathroom. Ascending the spiral staircase the large master bedroom is given an even more capacious feel by virtue of its high cathedral ceilings and the entrance of light through the half moon window atop the sliding doors, which give access to the amazing sun terrace. The size of the room comfortably allows for a sitting area, his and hers closets and an ensuite bathroom that has both shower and a tub. There are two further bedrooms upstairs, one of which is set up with two single beds whilst the other enjoys a queen; these bedrooms share a separate upstairs bathroom. The whole house is decorated with a vibrant Caribbean feel, which exudes a natural warmth that would bring delight, whether you choose to use the home as a primary residence or the perfect beachfront vacation villa.
